I am a mum, wife, avid allotment gardener, and dyslexic blogger. (If you spot any errors I apologise) I have always been passionate about the environment and became a vegetarian when I was 10 years old for ethical reasons. I have 3 school-age children. In the summer of 2018, we moved out of the city to the country and really started to think about renewable energy and our future.
Our switch to renewable energy.
When we moved home we were really conscious about finding an energy provider who could offer green energy. We stumbled across Octopus Energy who at that time we are a very new energy supplier with less than 300,000 customers. We had previously been with British Gas for at least 10 years. Since switching we have followed their progress and initiatives and have been blown away by their commitment to renewable energy.
I tend to overthink and realised that we had not changed suppliers for years but we are were alone! Nearly half of energy customers in the UK have NEVER switched suppliers! Not only are families overpaying but they are also sleepwalking in an energy market that needs to change! So I got typing.
What can one mum and a laptop do to effect change?
I started blogging about my passion for renewable energy in 2019. I wanted to let people like me know that there is an alternative to the Big 6. We can all consider how and when we consume energy. Switching to green energy has the biggest impact on reducing your carbon footprint.
When we moved home we couldn’t afford solar panels but we could switch providers and opt for renewable energy at no extra cost. So I started to write about my experience sharing reviews and tips. Now three years on our favorite supplier, Octopus Energy, has over 2 million customers! 👏
I obviously didn’t create this massive customer base for Octopus Energy 😄 but it feels like there’s been a shift in perception. More people are now considering renewable energy and there seems to be a growing appetite for moving towards net-zero.🌍
There is going to be an EV revolution.
I love researching topics and combined with my passion for renewable energy and my love of tech I decided to start this EV Home Charger blog site. I hope to compile an easy-to-read EV home charger review section and write blog posts on any EV topic which may be of interest.
I will also unashamedly bang the drum 🥁 for Octopus Energy. We need Octopus Energy as they are challenging the norms of the energy market. In order for our planet to survive, we need forward thinkers and creative tech companies to come forward like Octopus Energy. They can save us money but they can also affect change and help in part to save the planet.
Hows do we benefit by sharing our Octopus Energy reviews?
We take great pleasure in seeing Octopus Energy grow. When we switched in 2018 they had less than 300,000 customers now they have over 2 million! They are now the 6th largest energy provider in the UK!! This gives them a seat at the table with policymakers as one of the Big 6. 👏 By sharing our reviews we hope we can help convert more people to renewable energy and also help keep Octopus Energy moving forward! They have so many plans to help us get to Net-zero we are very happy to support them!

Octopus has so many ideas bubbling away that it sometimes makes my head spin BUT that’s what we need. I never thought I would enjoy listening to a podcast on the future of energy, but I do! Their ideas are simplistic yet effective all thanks to the tech they have developed to support them!
